Obesity is the first step of several life threatening diseases that can cause a lot of damage to your body. Some well known diseases like Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and many more. 

This disease if combined with obesity, these diseases lead people to have a lower quality of health. In rare cases, it leads to disability or early death.

Fat deposited in the neck, throat, and tongue makes the airway too small, which causes difficulty in breathing at night. This is called obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). OSA can cause high blood pressure, pulmonary hypertension, and heart failure. It may lead to sudden cardiac death and stroke. 

Because apnea episodes interrupt the normal sleep cycle, apnea causes restless sleep. This can cause fatigue and drowsiness. 

If this remains  untreated,  there may be a risk of motor vehicle accidents.

Digestive system:

Obesity has a higher risk of (gastroesophageal reflux disease) GERD, erosive esophagitis and rarely, esophageal cancer (adenocarcinoma). GERD turns out when stomach acid leaks into the esophagus. Fat can also lead to liver damage, scar tissues, and even liver failure. In addition to this, fat increases the risk of developing gallstones. This is when bile builds  up and hardens in the gallbladder. This may require surgery.


Cerebrovascular Disease:

Obesity causes narrowing of the blood vessels, which leads to work harder for the heart to pump blood around the body. When the heart has to work more it causes hypertension, and high blood pressure, untreated take it to stroke.

Obesity originates from multiple diseases, like high BP, High Blood sugar level. When these diseases combine cause hardening of blood vessels, hardening of arteries also called atherosclerosis, which can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Endocrine system

Obesity can make body cells resistant to insulin, insulin is hormone which carries sugar from blood to cell for energy, but when insulin fails to do so, it results in high blood sugar level.

Obesity may cause deteriorating bone density and muscle mass, this is called osteosarcopenic obesity, which has high risks of bone fracture.
